Appointments with the Doctors, Nurse and the extended Clinical Team can be obtained via eConsult, phoning the practice, coming to the surgery in person, or making an appointment through Vision Online. We also offer Video and telephone appointments, where the Doctor will phone you at a specific time.
Appointments can be made up to 7 days in advance. Although you may be registered with a particular doctor you are free to consult with any of the doctors in the practice.
In the interests of maintaining continuity of care, it is a good idea to try and see the same doctor if possible for an on-going complaint.
In urgent cases you will be seen the same day. The Triage Nurse will phone you back, if your matter can be dealt with over the phone, the Nurse will do so, if not, she will assess your situation and make you an appropriate appointment. The Duty Doctor is available for genuine emergencies only.
Please arrive in good time for your appointment. One appointment per patient per condition. There are many appointments wasted every day because patients do not attend, and do not contact us to cancel their appointment. We would ask you to help us by letting us know in good time if you are unable to attend an appointment.
Visits are made on request to those who are housebound, elderly or who are too ill to go out. If this is not the case please try to come to the Medical Centre to be seen.
If you require a home visit this should be requested between 8.30am and 10am if possible in order to help the Doctors plan their rounds. The receptionist may ask you about your illness so that the doctor can assess the urgency of the call. The Doctor may also call you to make an initial assessment over the phone.
During surgery hours urgent medical requests will be given prompt attention by the receptionist and will always be dealt with straight away.
If you feel it is a life threatening emergency dial: 999
Test results can be obtained by telephone after 3.00pm. Test results which have not been commented on or actioned by the doctor cannot be given out by the receptionist. Any query regarding test results will be referred to the doctor.
We would suggest that patients do phone to check up on results as we get so many results that we are unable to personally contact patients to inform them of normal results.
When the Surgery is Closed
All requests for URGENT medical attention between 6.00pm and 8.00am Mon-Fri, weekends and public holidays are dealt with by the Out of Hours Service. You can contact them by phoning 111 - all calls are answered by NHS24. The Website address is www.NHS24.com.
If your request is not urgent then please use the eConsult link on this website. From here you will be asked a few questions that will enable us to signpost your enquiry to the appropriate clinician. You will receive a response back by the end of the next working day if you use this service.
